About Reel FX
Reel FX develops and produces award-winning commercials, virtual reality experiences and original animated films. Based out of Los Angeles and Dallas, the Golden Globe-nominated studio has built a reputation as one of the top independent creative shops – and one of a handful focused on both client work and original feature development. Reel FX’s multi-faceted legacy includes over 22 years of CG animation and VFX experience on projects of every imaginable scale.
Reel FX’s short form division (est. 1993) focuses on commercials, themed-attraction/live venue projects, and interactive projects for top agencies across the globe such as BBDO, DDB, The Richards Group, Grey, Y&R and more, as well as studio clients like Fox, Warner Bros., DreamWorks Animation and Universal.
In 2014 – the studio expanded with the launch of new division, Reel FX VR, becoming one of the first major studios with a dedicated virtual reality group. Since its launch, Reel FX VR has created world-class virtual reality, interactive activations, and 360º narrative content for innovative brands such as Fox, Acura, American Express, AT&T, Frito-Lay, GE, Legendary Pictures, Lionsgate, Porsche, Samsung, and the U.S. Air Force and for all leading VR goggle platforms including the Oculus Rift, HTCVive, Samsung Gear VR and cardboard.
Reel FX Animation Studios, which houses Reel FX’s growing original film slate, includes 2014’s Golden Globe-nominated The Book of Life (Fox), which also garnered Best Animated Feature nominations from the Critics’ Choice Awards, Producers Guild Awards, and Annie Awards, as well as its first animated feature, Free Birds, (Relativity Media), which grossed over $110 MM worldwide. Projects in development include WISH Police, and Kung Fu Space Western.
